Dr. Metz has orchestrated R&D partnerships across sectors including large & small businesses, government agencies, not-for-profits, and academic institutions. The breadth of programs he has managed include: stem cell therapies (at Ossium Health), antibiotics (at Achaogen), microbial technologies in agriculture (at DuPont), and biodefense (at the Biomedical Advanced Research & Development Authority). He has been a strategic contributor to medical product development programs at IND and NDA stages, and medical device 510(k) development. During his graduate and postdoctoral work on plant-microbe interactions, he conducted public outreach for crop genetic engineering, which led to a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowship at USAID.
