Robert Fontana

Dr. Fontana is a clinical investigator with research interests in drug induced liver injury, viral hepatitis and acute liver failure. Dr. Fontana completed his gastroenterology/ hepatology training and is currently a Professor of Medicine and Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at the University of Michigan. He has been a principal investigator of the multi-center Drug Induced Liver Injury Network (DILIN) since 2003 and also serves as Co-chair of the DILIN Steering committee. He has helped lead efforts to carefully phenotype patients with DILI and better describe the clinical, genetic, and immunological factors associated with DILI susceptibility and outcomes.
